Becoming a Substitute Teacher/AVID Tutor/Training InstructorSo you would like to be a Substitute Teacher/AVID Tutor/Training Instructor?
There are many positions in which an individual can serve DoDEA Schools. Individuals with a high school diploma/GED or higher may apply to be a Substitute Teacher, AVID Tutor, or a Training Instructor. The availability and requirements for these positions vary by Region; please see below for additional information.
Opportunities for People with Disabilities
Competitive status is not required if the person selected is an individual with a disability who is eligible for appointment under Schedule A of the excepted service. Visit Opportunities for People with Disabilities.
The instructor will contact each student to schedule the behind the wheel portion. The instructor has 90 days from the completion date of the class to schedule this part. This will usually take 3-4 consecutive days. Drive times are afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays.
After the student completes the behind the wheel, the instructor will issue a Certificate of Completion and a behind the wheel results sheet.
A PARENT must bring the Certificate of Completion, the behind the wheel results sheet, and a current copy of the student's report card to the Driver's Ed Coordinator.
Parents (only) will be issued a Driver's Eligibility Certificate to take to the DMV. This certificate EXPIRES in 30 days. If a new certificate is needed, please bring the expired certificate to the Driver's Ed Coordinator.
